On Surprises & Transits

To have 2 of your Primary School teachers send you off at the airport after a mid-tern break is indeed very flattering & heartening! To have a cousin & friend studying in Australia sending you off after having missed out on the earlier send-off is fitting! To have a waiter in a foreign land recognizing you after only one prior visit a month ago is very surprising! To be treated to a complimentary glass of latte in a foreign country that is considered economically worse-off than your own, by this sanme waiter, is simply amazing! Ah, how can one not feel that great things are to come after such a PERFECT beginning to the new term. (not even the long flights and even longer transit times can provide a damper on this celebratory mood)

And who can forget moral-raising & spirited KTV sessions which see family & friends come together for nights of great singing and even greater laughter! Add to that the joy of meeting a primary school classmate who I have never spoken to in 11 years. Add to that the re-gathering with music classmates, and the publication of a most meaningful book by the music teacher!

Nothing of course, beats the stability and familiarity of the Home & the Circle of friends.Ah, how can one not feel that great things are to come in this Re-Start of the Season after an AMAZINGLY REFRESHING half-time break.

There are times in life, when Man has to console himself of better things to come, there are others however, where the feeling of invincibility & optimism just overpower all doubts & insecurities. It has been the most timely of transistions.
